If your site is stripping topsoil, or has a stockpile of it waiting to go somewhere, you may qualify to have it screened on site and hauled off at no cost to the project. Screened topsoil has a market in landscaping and finish work, and that market is what pays for the trucks. Tell us about the site and we will tell you whether it qualifies.
Why it can be free
Every development site strips its topsoil before the pad goes in, and on most of them the finish grade at the end uses a fraction of what came off. The rest sits in a pile the site has to pay to move. Screened, that same pile is a material landscape wholesalers, sod farms and finish crews buy by the yard. When a site has enough of it, Soil Depot sets up screening on the site, runs the stockpile, and trucks the screened topsoil out to the people who want it. The site pays nothing, the pile is gone, and the disposal line comes off the budget.
What it does for the schedule
A topsoil stockpile is a regulated pile under the Texas construction stormwater permit: it needs perimeter controls and it has to be stabilized when it sits. Moving it out takes it off the stormwater plan, frees the ground it was sitting on and removes one more thing the superintendent has to manage at close-out. The screening runs on its own equipment and its own crew, so it does not borrow from yours.
What it looks like on your site
You tell us the site, the depth of the topsoil and roughly how much ground is being stripped. We look at the site, confirm the material and the volume, and agree a window. A screening plant and a loader set up next to the pile, the stockpile runs through the screen, and trucks load out from the screened side until it is gone. Roots, rock and oversize go back to your fill pile or leave with the trucks, whichever you prefer. The ground is left graded as agreed.
Who usually qualifies
The arithmetic works when there is enough clean topsoil to justify setting up a screen and running trucks. These are the sites it works for most often.
Sites that usually do not qualify: small volumes, stockpiles that are mostly fill or debris, and sites with no room to work. Those still move as a normal dirt export, quoted the same day.
