Sand & Aggregate Base Delivery in Texas

Sand and aggregate base are the bedding and sub-base materials that sit beneath pipe, slab, and pavement. Soil Depot delivers cushion sand, concrete sand, and aggregate base in commercial volumes across DFW, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, sourced to the gradation and plasticity your project requires.

Concrete sand and aggregate base material

Sand & Base, by Use

Cushion sand is the fine bedding material placed around utilities and under slabs to protect pipe and provide an even bearing layer. Concrete sand is the coarser, washed sand used in concrete mixes and as a bedding course. Aggregate base is the compactable crushed-stone or gravel layer that forms the structural sub-base under pavements and slabs.

Specified to gradation and PI

Aggregate base for roadway and pavement work is commonly specified to TxDOT Item 247 “Flexible Base,” which caps Plasticity Index by grade (Grade 1-2: PI ≤ 10, LL ≤ 40) and requires compaction to 100% of maximum dry density. We source base material to the grade your plans call for and sand to the bedding gradation your spec requires.

Sand & Base FAQ

What is the difference between cushion sand and concrete sand?
Cushion sand is a fine bedding sand for pipe and under-slab cushioning; concrete sand is coarser, washed sand used in concrete mixes and as a bedding course.
What spec is aggregate base held to?
Roadway and pavement base is commonly specified to TxDOT Item 247 Flexible Base (Grade 1-2: PI ≤ 10, LL ≤ 40), compacted to 100% of maximum dry density. We source to your plan’s grade.
Do you deliver sand and base in bulk?
