Select Fill Supplier & Delivery in Texas
Select fill is the clean, compactable, spec-controlled material that goes under building pads, parking lots, and load-bearing grade. Soil Depot sources select fill to your geotechnical specification and delivers it in commercial volumes across DFW, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, with the documentation your testing lab needs.

What Is Select Fill?
Select fill is a low-plasticity, well-graded soil chosen for its ability to compact to a stable, load-bearing density. Unlike general fill dirt, it is controlled to a specification: a capped Plasticity Index, a target gradation, and a verified compaction curve. On Texas sites, it is the material engineers call for when native ground, usually high-plasticity expansive clay, cannot safely support a foundation or pavement on its own.
How select fill is specified
There is no single statewide “select fill” product number; the spec is set by your project’s geotechnical engineer. The most widely referenced benchmark is TxDOT Item 132 “Embankment,” whose Type A granular material caps Liquid Limit at 45 and Plasticity Index at 15, with field density tied to PI (98%+ of maximum dry density at PI ≤ 15). The 2021 International Building Code separately classifies a soil as expansive at a Plasticity Index of 15 or greater, which is exactly the threshold select fill is meant to stay under. Material is verified in the lab by Proctor compaction (ASTM D698 / D1557) and Atterberg limits (ASTM D4318).
How we source & deliver it
We maintain active relationships with borrow pits, material yards, and export sites across each metro, so we can match spec-compliant select fill to your project and keep trucks rolling at your required daily cap. Every delivery comes with one point of contact for dispatch and the paper trail your QC process requires. Need to move material the other direction? We also export and haul off surplus dirt.
