Where We Deliver
Soil Depot operates across Texas’s four largest metros with dedicated regional teams, local supplier relationships, and the logistics reach to deliver material to your job site on schedule.
Across Texas
Three regional teams covering four Texas metros. Each area has a dedicated point of contact who knows the local suppliers, haul routes, and project landscape.
Regional Teams, Local Knowledge
Each metro is covered by a dedicated regional manager who sources material, coordinates trucking, and keeps your project on schedule.
Dallas-Fort Worth
Blackland prairie clay, I-35 corridor commercial work, and residential subdivisions across Collin, Denton, and Rockwall counties.
Austin
Limestone and caliche subgrade, Hill Country terrain, tech campus grading, and residential development west of I-35.
San Antonio
1604 corridor development, military-adjacent construction near JBSA, and growing demand for structural fill on south and west side expansion zones.
Houston
Gulf Coast expansive clay, high water table considerations, massive commercial volume, and suburban expansion across Conroe, The Woodlands, and Spring.
Texas Soils at a Glance
Every Texas metro sits on different ground, which is why each one has its own sourcing and fill strategy. Here is the short version, with the full technical breakdown on each regional page.
| Region | Dominant ground | Primary challenge | Detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dallas-Fort Worth | Blackland prairie clay (smectitic Vertisols, e.g. Houston Black) | High shrink-swell; import select fill and stabilize subgrade | DFW soil detail |
| Austin / Central Texas | Limestone and caliche west of I-35; expansive clay to the east | Shallow bedrock and cut/fill balance; clean fill is scarce | Austin soil detail |
| San Antonio | Edwards limestone (north) and Blackland clay (south/east) | Edwards Aquifer recharge zone; JBSA / federal specs | San Antonio soil detail |
| Houston / Gulf Coast | Gulf Coast alluvial clay (Beaumont Formation; Lake Charles, Beaumont) | High water table, poor drainage, strict PI; land subsidence | Houston soil detail |
Soil classifications per USDA-NRCS Official Soil Series Descriptions. Statewide, we spec material to TxDOT Item 132 / 247, ASTM compaction and Atterberg testing, and the 2021 IBC expansive-soil threshold (PI ≥ 15), with TCEQ stormwater and Edwards Aquifer compliance where they apply.
Statewide Soil Logistics, Built for Commercial Work
Soil Depot is a commercial soil and dirt logistics partner. We source, broker, and deliver fill dirt, select fill, common fill, topsoil, sand, and base across Texas, and we haul off and export surplus dirt when your site is generating spoils.
Every metro we serve sits on different ground, so we run dedicated regional teams with local supplier relationships, daily dispatch, and real-time communication with your site superintendent. Whether you need fill dirt delivered to a job site or you need to export surplus dirt, one point of contact coordinates the trucks so your grading crew stays on schedule.
We work to the specs your project requires, from TxDOT Item 132 select fill to flexible base, verified by standard compaction and Atterberg testing, and we plan around the regulatory realities of each region (Edwards Aquifer protection in Central and South Texas, stormwater and drainage on the Gulf Coast).
